Rebecca Grady Rucker, soprano
Equally comfortable on the opera and concert hall stage, Rebecca Grady Rucker has performed extensively throughout the New York area and United States. In 2021 Rebecca had the opportunity to sing in Masterclasses with American soprano Rachel Willis-Sorensen and American bass-baritone Greer Grimsley as well as participate virtually with the Boston Wagner Institute with Jane Eaglen.
In opera and musical theatre, her most recent role was that of Gianetta in The Gondoliers with The Blue Hill Troupe. Other roles of note include Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and the Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd.
As a featured soloist in many recitals and galas, Rebecca recently had the opportunity to perform in a private salon for the German Consulate of NY. She has also performed at Carnegie Hall, Radio Music City Hall, Town Hall, NY, on tour with Ray Davies of The Kinks as well as on the Late Show with David Letterman.
During the pandemic Rebecca launched a personal passion project to champion lesser known works of female composers from the Romantic Era to the present, “From the Drawing Room into the Public Eye,” initially highlighting six composers and was able to showcase the first performance at The Players Club in New York City.
Rebecca received her BA in Music and Theatre at Albion College where she received various awards and solo performance opportunities. While her initial focus was in musical theatre her passion for classical music brought her to opera and art song. Rebecca continued her training with Jean McDonald at the University of Northern Iowa where she received her MM in Vocal Performance.
A cancer survivor and passionate supporter of various philanthropic causes, Rebecca volunteers as a performer and on various committees with The Blue Hill Troupe, a group of dedicated and talented artists that focus on bringing high-quality theater performances to New York City audiences while raising money for New York City charities.
Rebecca lives in Manhattan with her husband and parrot Romeo.
